Mapped folders are not available when trying to open projects or files from Trados Studio

Symptoms/Context

You're trying to add files or open a project from the Trados Studio dialog view and you cannot see your mapped folders.

Resolution

Either run Trados Studio as the normal user, or ask your IT team to implement the changes from the Microsoft support entry: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3035277/mapped-drives-are-not-available-from-an-elevated-prompt-when-uac-is-co

Root Cause

Trados Studio runs as Administrator and any application that runs as Administrator does not see the mapped folders.
This is intended behavior for Windows applications.
